Vermont Bird Hunting
Woodcock chalk, a clear indicator that Woodcock were feeding here and are nearby. More times then not...you'll have and see a point, walk up, see chalk and then fly a bird.
An American Woodcock, my absolute favorite little brown bird!
"POINT" it is time to get over there.... find a window...ITS SHOWTIME!
Dead Bird...
Being in his third season and with the TERRIBLE TWOS behind us...my young dog "Jake" has come a long way and is alot of fun to watch.
THANK YOU FOR FOLLOWING....flight birds will be arriving this next week. LIFE IS VERY GOOD!

VERMONT UPLAND BIRD HUNTING
A quick update: The season is open, we are seeing and flying local birds. Have even seen some family groups of woodcock. Its hard to tell yet on numbers of birds. There are no apples....the warm weather in March followed by a cold wet April did the apple blossoms in throughout my covers. Grapes are pretty slim too.....as the season rolls I think the grouse will be easier to find without the normal large menu....its been pretty wet and rainy....after the dry summer life is good. If you want to book a bird hunting trip, I do still have limited open dates. Thanks for the view!

Vermont Woodcock and Grouse season is open. There are still a limited amount of open dates. Give me and my buddy "Jake" call.
Jake looked great yesterday. It was the first nice day in awhile and I happened to not be guiding fishermen. The leaves are nearing peak and it looks to be a great season. Thanks for the view and please stay tuned to all my blogs.

STICK BIRD
The best way to prepare yourself shooting wise is to get a buddy and play stick bird. With a hand thrower, a case of clays and a flat of shells..what a FUN way to spend a couple hours.....the basic idea is to throw unhittable birds....I can not think of a better way to prepare for Ruffed Grouse.
